Underwriting Assistant

Our Brisbane Casualty team is now seeking an Underwriting Assistant to provide office and administrative support within the Casualty team in Brisbane, as well as providing technical Underwriting support for Programs to ensure an efficient and effective working environment.

Based in Brisbane you will be responsible for:


  • Ensuring underwriters are provided with administrative support through a variety of functions including responding to telephone inquiries when underwriting staff are unavailable, ensuring all internal and external correspondence (clients, suppliers, vendors etc) are completed in a timely and accurate manner, creating and maintaining underwriting files, maintaining database, updating and maintaining monthly reports, etc.
  • Providing underwriting support by logging and clearing submissions, ensuring accurate premium booking, ensuring policy and endorsement issuance to brokers is completed accurately and according to timelines, ensuring premium payments are received, etc.
  • Maintaining a highly effective and responsive working relationship with Underwriting staff.
  • Prioritising work commitments to ensure daily workflows are managed effectively.
  • Maintaining good working relationship with customers, peers and other departments.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least 1- 2 years business experience within the insurance industry preferred.
  • Flexible, self-starter, with demonstrated organisational skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of PC based systems and applications such as E-Mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems for managing contacts, schedules and calendars.
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail. 
  • High level of professionalism and customer service focus.
  • HSC (or equivalent) essential. Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline would be desirable.
