Robert manages the Professional & Financial Risks and Surety Divisions' team of Claims Specialists across the Asia Pacific Region and is responsible for the provision of strategic, technical and market facing claims leadership, support and co-ordination.
Robert joined LIU in 2015 with more than 16 years of experience in Australia and the United Kingdom in the insurance industry, both in senior positions within other insurance companies and as a lawyer in private practice. Robert has managed and defended claims against engineers, architects, construction professionals involved in both small and large scale construction and infrastructure projects, directors and officers, financial institutions, financial services companies and professionals in other sectors.
Robert is a qualified lawyer who has practiced in New South Wales and Queensland.
Peter is responsible for leadership and coordination of all cross-lines initiatives; refinement of the LIU Value Propositions and staff training in their delivery; marketing strategies; and broker relationships, with particular emphasis on preferred broker/cluster group arrangements.
Peter continues to be involved in the larger accounts and key relationships in the Brisbane Casualty market.
Peter has spent 39 years in insurance, as a broker, underwriter and reinsurer, and he has three decades of management experience. Apart from five years in Sydney, he has spent most of his time working from Brisbane in the Queensland market. He is a Certified Insurance Professional and Fellow of ANZIIF.
Senior Underwriter, Energy Property & Construction
Michael leads the LIU Asia Pacific Crisis Management team from his base in the LIU Sydney office.
Michael began his career in insurance while still at university, working part-time in administration for a general insurance company. After graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University, he worked for five years, first in motor and householders’ insurance and then in contingency insurance, before moving into crisis management insurance with a leading global insurance company.
Michael joined LIU in 2009 with eight years’ experience in crisis management insurance.
Ashley underwrites risks for the three main product lines of LIU Crisis Management: Contaminated Products, Product Recall and Kidnap & Ransom.
Ashley joined LIU in 2014 with a decade of broking experience gained in the Lloyd’s of London market, and a specialisation in Kidnap & Ransom insurance. He holds Lloyd’s of London broking qualifications, as well as a qualification in newspaper journalism.
Assistant Vice President & Technical Claims Manager, Professional & Financial Risks - Asia Pacific
Based in Sydney, James has technical and portfolio oversight of all SPC claims throughout Australia and construction PI claims throughout the Asia Pacific region. He also handles a portfolio of claims.
James has over 30 years’ experience in financial lines claims across a variety of professions but with particular focus on complex and high value construction claim.
James holds a degree in Masters of Business Administration and is CIP, Fellow of ANZIIF and his professional experience includes work on Professional & Financial Risks claims at a number of other insurers in Australia as well as four years working as a claims broker in the London market.
As a senior underwriter with LIU Marine and based in Melbourne, Paul’s main responsibility is managing and developing LIU’s Marine portfolio for Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. While his focus is on Cargo, Carrier’s and Marine Liability insurance, he is also interested in promoting cross-lines protection for clients.
Paul joined LIU in 2016 with 17 years’ experience in insurance, mainly in underwriting and managing Marine portfolios with a range of international and Australian insurers.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma of Frontline Management, and is currently completing a Diploma in Risk Management.
Chief Counsel & VP Legal, Risk & Governance, Asia Pacific
Nathan is responsible for LIU’s internal legal team as well as the compliance and governance teams. He also works in conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer, Australia to implement a robust risk management framework throughout LIU’s Asia Pacific operations.
Nathan joined LIU in 2007 as the Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager, Australia. Since then, he has had a number of different roles, including managing the cross-lines LIU Claims team in Australia, and managing the first party LIU Claims teams across the Asia Pacific region.
A qualified solicitor with both in-house and private practice experience, Nathan was appointed Chief Counsel and Vice President, Legal, Risk and Governance for LIU Asia Pacific in 2016.
Nathan holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons).
Senior Risk Engineer, Energy Property Construction
Murray is a senior underwriter for the LIU Accident & Health line of business.
Murray has more than 30 years’ experience in both Accident & Health and Sports insurance, gained in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He joined LIU in July 2016 and is based in LIU’s Melbourne office.
Murray holds a Diploma of Financial Services (General Insurance) and is a Senior Associate of ANZIIF.
Manages LIU’s North Asian (excluding Korea) Professional Indemnity and Construction Project Professional Indemnity Portfolio.
Before joining LIU in 2006, Christy gained experience working for a local insurance broker where she was responsible for program placement. Christy currently looks after LIU’s Professional Indemnity portfolio, specialising in Construction Project Professional Indemnity.
Christy holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Hong Kong and is a Senior Associate of The Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance (ANZIIF).
Puspa is based in Singapore and is responsible for all LIU Marine claims throughout Asia.
Puspa joined LIU in 2007. She has been handling marine claims since 1994.
Puspa started her career as a lawyer working in the UK and Singapore, focusing on the marine market. She then joined a well known marine loss adjusters company where she was responsible for managing claims and recoveries. She subsequently joined the managers of the world’s largest P&I Club handling all aspects of marine claims for shipowners, logistic and terminal operators, dealing with charter party disputes, advising on cover issues and conducting seminars for the Club members.
Puspa spent a year working as a legal officer to the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome, Italy.
She qualified with a Masters in Law at King’s College, London specialising in marine subjects. She has also been called to the English and Singapore Bar.

Kane has over ten years' experience in the general insurance industry including commercial package product management. Kane has been with LIU since 2010 and has been specialising in property and Industrial Special Risks for over five years.

Senior Vice President, Professional & Financial Risks - Asia Pacific
Todd is responsible for managing the Commercial PI portfolio within Australia. As a Senior Underwriter, Todd's focus is looking after significant, unusual or distressed risks.
Todd has been with LIU since 2008.
His previous experience spans marketing and insurance and includes underwriting and senior underwriting roles in the U.S. and Australia.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University and is an Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance from the American Institute For Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.
Senior Underwriter, Professional & Financial Risks
As a senior Speciality Casualty underwriter in the LIU Melbourne office, Simon is responsible for underwriting financial lines products for Victoria and South Australia. He specialises in Professional Indemnity (PI), Construction PI, Financial Institutions PI, Investment Manager’s insurance, Information Technology Liability and Cyber insurance.
Simon has 15 years of insurance industry experience, ten years of which he has spent underwriting financial lines products. He holds a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and Law and a Postgraduate Certificate in Commercial Law.
Joel is responsible for underwriting and developing LIU’s Corporate & Commercial Property, Energy and Construction portfolio across Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
Joel’s insurance career began in 2004 as part of the Graduate Program for a large Australian insurer. From there, he relocated to London in 2008 working for a large reinsurer underwriting Property policies both on a direct and reinsurance basis. In 2011 he was transferred back to Melbourne where his focus was direct Property business.
Joel joined LIU in 2012, bringing with him a wealth of local and international experience.
Joel has completed studies at the Chartered Insurance Institute, London and holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics, Finance and International Trade from Deakin University.
After completing postgraduate studies, Joel was awarded Fellowship with ANZIIF.
Manages the IT Liability Portfolio and Cyber Insurance products.
David has worked in the professional lines area of insurance since 1995, working for a number of brokers, underwriting agencies and insurers. Since starting with LIU in 2008, David has launched a number of Information Technology Liability products and in 2012 he launched LIU’s Cyber Insurance product. David holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Commerce.
Before joining LIU 2007, JY worked in Korea as a reinsurance broker handling a finite reinsurance program as well as treaty and facultative reinsurance for professional lines.
He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation from the American Institute of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. JY’s other insurance qualifications include the Associate in Risk Management and Associate in Reinsurance designations from AICPCU/IIA.
Responsible for the leadership of the Human Resources Division across Asia Pacific.
Damien leads all areas of LIU’s Human Resources activities including recruitment, compensation and benefits, training and development, communication and culture initiatives as well as developing, implementing and coordinating HR policies and programs that support the business strategy.
Damien has a Bachelor of Commerce and over 20 years' experience in the human resources profession across a number of industries including insurance, pharmaceuticals, accountancy, law, finance and the not for profit sector.
Courtney is responsible for the purchase and management of LIU’s global First Party reinsurance programmes. He is based in the LIU Sydney office.
Courtney’s insurance career began in 1991, when he was appointed as an airline/products liability underwriter with an independent insurance agency in Texas, USA. Following the acquisition of the company by a large marine and aviation insurance holding company, Courtney moved to New York in 1994 to assist with the analysis and placement of marine, aviation, engineering and property reinsurance programmes. He became Vice President of Reinsurance and a Director of the company in 1997. Courtney joined LIU in September 1999.
Courtney holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Guy is LIU’s global Power-Generation Practice Leader, and heads LIU Australia’s team of EPC Engineers.
Based in Sydney, he works across the Asia-Pacific region conducting site surveys and assessing risk in oil and gas production; refining; pipelines; gas liquefaction; power generation; and construction projects. His key priorities are in providing global and regional direction with technical support to LIU’s underwriters, fellow engineers and claims staff, as well as providing risk control expertise to brokers and clients.
Guy holds a PhD in boiling heat transfer mechanisms. He has worked internationally in fields as diverse as deep-level mining, finite-element modelling, consulting, design, lecturing, and in the development of cryogenic satellite test facilities.
He gained specialist expertise in forensic engineering investigations while living in the UK, before joining LIU in 1999.
A Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia, Guy is also a Chartered Engineer (UK), a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK), and a Chartered Professional Engineer (Australia), including registration under Queensland legislation.
Joyce joined LIU in 2010. She is responsible for liability risk engineering services in Asia and supports the Casualty Underwriting and Claims teams through technical advice and risk improvement recommendations. Her work involves surveys and reviews across products, construction projects and plant and utility operations.
Before joining LIU, Joyce worked on environmental engineering projects in the HKSAR where she undertook site safety and project management roles. She has also worked on products and technical services in the construction industry and as an insurance loss adjuster.
Joyce has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong. She is a chartered mechanical engineer registered with the Engineering Council of UK and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK.
Claims Specialist, Energy Property Construction & Marine
Marie manages the Energy Property Construction and Marine fast-track claims.
Marie joined LIU in 2008. Her consistent hard work and commitment resulted in her appointment to the Australian Claims team as a Technical Assistant. In this role she supported the Professional & Financial Risks Underwriting and Claims teams.
In June 2013, Marie was promoted to her current role as Claims Specialist in the Energy Property Construction and Marine teams where she handles LIU’s fast-track claims. Her portfolio also consists of some major loss claims to facilitate her ongoing professional development.
Marie is currently studying Risk Management, whilst continuing to develop her skills as a Claims handler.
Angus oversees the Casualty, Workers Compensation and Crisis Management claims team across the Asia Pacific Region working closely with underwriters, claims professionals and risk engineers to ensure optimum outcomes.
Angus has over 25 years of commercial experience including 18 years leading a niche casualty claims management, adjusting and investigation business. Most recently Angus was General Manager of a large Australian loss adjusting business overseeing all professional claims staff across multi lines. Angus is highly regarded for his drive, attention to detail and client focussed approach.
His qualifications include Bachelor of Business, Executive Certificate in Insurance, ANZIIF (Fellow), CIP, FAIM.
Senior Underwriter, Professional & Financial Risks
Lauren is a Senior Underwriter for LIU’s Professional & Financial Risks Portfolio, specialising in Construction and Non-Construction Project PI and Commercial Annual PI for South Asia.
Lauren has over 10 years’ experience working in Hong Kong across all classes of Financial Lines insurance. In 2010 she moved to Singapore to become Financial Lines manager for a leading insurance company.
In 2011, Lauren joined LIU bringing with her invaluable experience in both the North and South Asian market.
Lauren is an affiliate member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Finance (ANZIIF) and is a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter with the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
Senior Underwriter, Professional & Financial Risks Manager - Queensland
Helen is a Senior Underwriter and Professional & Financial Risks Manager for Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions (PI and Investment Managers Insurance), Cyber, Side A and Directors’ & Officers’ Liability insurance.
Based in Brisbane, Helen joined LIU in 2015. She has worked in the Professional & Financial Risks sector since 2001, working within both the broking and underwriting fields in the UK, USA, and Australia.
Helen holds a Masters in Mathematics and Masters in Business Administration.
Melinda underwrites Material Damage and Business Interruption (delay in start-up/advanced loss of profit) insurance for Contract Works (Erection Risks, Construction Risks and Civil Construction Risks), as well as annual Contractor and Principal cover. She underwrites to a national portfolio from her base in the LIU Melbourne office.
Melinda joined LIU Sydney’s Energy Property Construction team in 2010 as an assistant underwriter. In 2011 she transferred to LIU Melbourne, where she worked primarily on Construction and Property before becoming an underwriter with a core focus on Construction.
Melinda holds an Advanced Diploma in Business and is a graduate of the International Association of Engineering Insurers (IMIA) Engineering Academy. She is a Senior Associate with ANZIIF.
Alan is responsible for LIU’s Energy and Construction Division business in Asia and is global Chief Underwriting Officer for the Construction product line.
Alan has over 40 years' experience in underwriting and management in the U.K., U.S. and Australia. Over the past 20 years he has focused exclusively on Energy and Construction in the Asia Pacific region and has developed extensive relationships with key producers, ceding companies and clients.
Alan is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the U.K.
Jonathan manages the Surety operations for LIU across the Asia Pacific region.
Jonathan has more than a decade of experience in the Surety business, the first seven years of which were gained in various underwriting roles for Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe Ltd. while he was based in the UK. He relocated to Australia in early 2014 to join the LIU Sydney team as National Surety Manager (Australia). Jonathan was appointed Regional Surety Manager (Asia Pacific) in March 2016.
Jonathan holds a BA in Business Economics (1st class) and is an Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding. He has been a Director of the Australian Surety Association since November 2014.
Vice President, Claims - Energy Property Construction Terrorism, Asia Pacific
In addition to his claims leadership role, Simon’s responsibilities encompass management of the people, planning and market engagement of the LIU EPCT (Asia) underwriting team.
Simon has considerable market knowledge of the Asian region, having worked throughout the region while living in Indonesia, Vietnam and, more recently, Singapore. His previous role was Regional Director of Claims for a large multinational insurance broker and he has also worked for 2 major international loss adjustors in the region. His experience spans complex claims management, business and team leadership and client engagement. Simon joined LIU Singapore in early 2017.
Simon holds a CILA (Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters) Advanced Diploma and a CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) Diploma in Insurance (Claims).
Senior Underwriter, Professional & Financial Risks
Louise is an Senior Underwriter for LIU’s Professional & Financial Risks Portfolio, focusing on Professional Indemnity in South Asia.
Louise has over 8 years' experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining LIU in 2012, Louise gained over 3 years’ broking experience with a large international brokerage firm in Malaysia before moving to Singapore and transitioning into underwriting Financial Lines.
Louise holds a Bachelor of Business (Law) from Monash University.
Keith underwrites crisis management business for LIU Australia from his base in the LIU Melbourne office. His emphasis is on the development of new business and the education of clients and brokers on product recall insurance.
Keith joined LIU in 2017 after more than 30 years in the insurance industry, having held positions with Australian and international insurers and brokers. His extensive experience in both underwriting and broking covers the specialist insurance areas of liability, contaminated products, product recall and kidnap, ransom and extortion insurance, as well as other niche insurance products.
Alex is based in LIU's Singapore office with a focus on marine risk management in the Asia Pacific.
A Master Mariner with twelve years at sea, Alex spent a number of years as a Marine Surveyor and Consultant acting for Underwriters, Admiralty Lawyers and P & I clubs investigating incidents concerning bulk oil and chemical cargoes, vessel and collision damage as well as vessel salvage and wreck removal operations.
With extensive experience across all aspects of marine transportation, Alex has conducted numerous JH143 Risk Assessment Warranty Surveys for underwriters concerned with Asia Pacific shipyards.
He is a Member of the Nautical Institute who has also worked on major onshore and offshore construction projects.
Senior Claims Specialist, Professional & Financial Risks
Alison manages a wide range of Professional & Financial Risks claims.
Alison has been working in insurance and the law since 2001 with experience in Public Liability, Professional Indemnity (PI) and Directors’ & Officers' Liability (D&O) matters. Alison has also gained international experience working with LIU in London where she specialised in PI claims.
Prior to joining LIU Alison handled Public Liability, PI and D&O claims across various jurisdictions in Australia.
Alison holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws and is admitted to practice as a solicitor in NSW.
As Vice President for Casualty Asia Pacific, John Campbell has overall responsibility for technical underwriting and portfolio management of the primary and excess liability lines across LIU’s Asia Pacific Casualty business.
John started his insurance career in 1988 in the United Kingdom with Royal Insurance and has been working in liability business ever since.
He relocated to Australia in 1991, working in Perth and Melbourne for MMI / Allianz before joining LIU’s Melbourne team in 2002. John subsequently moved to Sydney with LIU where he is based today.
Michelle is responsible for managing the LIU Surety portfolio across Asia.
Michelle worked as an underwriter specialising in Trade Credit and Surety for a major international insurance company before joining LIU in March 2017. She has previously worked in commercial finance for a multinational energy company and in marketing and investor relations for a boutique Asian hedge fund.
Michelle holds a Masters in Finance from Grenoble École de Management, and a BBA (Hons) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Alan has been with LIU since February 2001 and was previously a senior account executive at Marsh Dublin.
He holds a first class honours degree in Insurance & Risk Management from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and holds the Chartered Associateship qualification from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London.
Jessica manages a portfolio of Casualty claims, and provides support for LIU Casualty’s Fast Track claims initiative.
Jessica joined LIU in 2015, having previously worked as a claims adjuster for a personal Accident & Health insurer and later as a claims consultant with a top-tier brokerage firm, where she specialised in Industrial Special Risks, Public and Product Liability, Contract Works, engineering, Marine, ‘expat’/’inpat’ and travel claims.
Jessica holds ANZIIF Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualifications (Providing Customer Advice and Insurance Law & Regulation) and is an affiliate member of ANZIIF.
Gavin underwrites the full suite of Professional Indemnity (PI) products, as well as Information Technology Liability; Financial Institutions (Investment Manager's insurance and PI for Financial Instutions); Directors' & Officers'; Umbrella Defence Costs; and Cyber insurance.
Gavin has worked in the insurance industry since 2004, and joined LIU in 2012

Jack is responsible for underwriting the entire suite of LIU’s Accident & Health products.
Jack has over 9 years’ experience in Accident & Health insurance gained through working with underwriting agencies and large corporate insurers. He has an extensive understanding of multiple industries and their particular insurance requirements.
Jack joined LIU in January 2017 and is based in the LIU Melbourne office. He holds Tier 1 (General Insurance Compliance Personal Accident and Sickness) qualifications with ANZIIF.
As a senior underwriter with the LIU Perth office, Neil's particular area of interest is Directors' and Oficcers' Liability insurance for the Western Australia marketplace.
Neil has been with LIU since September 2017. Previously he held the role of Financial Lines State Manager in Western Australia sequentially for two international insurers.
Neil is originally from London, where he began his insurance career in 1985. He was a financial lines underwriter for a prominent Lloyd's syndicate and held senior broking roles for major global broking houses before moving to Australia.
Senior Claims Specialist, Professional & Financial Risks
Angela manages Professional Indemnity (PI), Directors’ and Officers’ Liability and financial lines claims for a range of professions and industries. Her particular emphasis is on claims for construction, engineering and architecture clients.
Angela joined LIU in 2016 with 16 years’ claims experience in the PI and financial lines insurance sector, gained across the Asia Pacific region, specifically, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Japan.
Prior to joining LIU, Angela worked as a Senior Professional Indemnity & Financial Lines Claims Officer for various international and domestic insurers.
Angela holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, a Bachelor of Business degree and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. She is an admitted solicitor in NSW and holds a current practice certificate.
Sara underwrites property damage and business interruption for energy (oil and gas and power, including renewables) and mining business from the LIU Sydney office.
Sara began her insurance career in 2009 at a Lloyd’s of London syndicate. After completing their Underwriting Graduate Scheme, she progressed to an underwriting role within the energy team. Sara immigrated to Australia and joined LIU in April 2015.
Sara holds a BSc in Business Management from the University of Surrey (UK), an Advanced Diploma in Insurance and a Certificate in Contract Wording. She is a Chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
Sara is a member of several industry groups, associations and committees, including the Engineering Discussion Group, the Sydney Mining Club and the Lloyd’s Australia Development Group.
Assistant Vice President, Casualty & SA Branch Manager
Matthew manages the upstream Exploration & Production Casualty portfolio across the Asia Pacific Region. He is also the South Australia branch manager, in which role he oversees all branch operations, including branch Casualty business. In addition, he is responsible for promoting LIU Adelaide’s cross-lines approach to business.
Matthew has 30 years of underwriting and broking experience - focused mainly on corporate national and international clients - in both Australia and Asia (specifically, Vietnam). He joined LIU in January 2011.
Matthew holds a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking).
Angelo leads LIU's Casualty risk engineers across the Asia Pacific, providing technical support for Underwriting and Claims and coordinating efforts with LIU's risk engineering resources in North America and Europe.
His work involves site visits and desk reviews for clients across construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, chemical plants, rail transport and infrastructure. He also drives LIU's risk engineering capability, developing in-house policy and thought leadership and training for staff and clients.
Before joining LIU, Angelo worked as a risk engineer specialising in product liability. He has also worked as civil engineer, project manager and contract manager. He has Civil Engineering qualifications from RMIT, and a Graduate Diploma in Business Management.
Vice President & Head of Energy, Property & Construction - Asia Pacific
Brett manages LIU’s oil, gas, petrochemical and chemical portfolio across Asia Pacific. He is also Portfolio Manager for power generation and heavy industries across Australia and New Zealand.
Brett started his insurance career in 1997 having worked as a direct insurance broker for some of the largest Australian energy and mining companies in the market. He also has experience writing marine, aviation and energy risks for a large international reinsurer.
Brett joined LIU in 2002 and since then he has worked in our Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore offices. His experience resides in the oil and gas industry, where he has written policies for a large number of the regions refining, petrochemical and LNG producers, as well as the oil and gas transportation sector, gas treatment and separation, coal seam methane and chemical industries.
Brett has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New England.
Ben oversees the management of LIU’s activities throughout Asia.
Based in Singapore, Ben is responsible for development and execution of regional strategies related to product disciplines and geographical functions for Asia.
His role is focused around identifying opportunities to increase revenue, productivity and profitability and encompass development and maintenance of relationships with brokers, cedants, reinsurers, approved actuaries, auditors, bankers and regulators.
He is also responsible for the management of the LIU team based in both the Singapore and Hong Kong office.
Ben has over 15 years' experience in the insurance industry. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Technology.
Sang Jin is the Casualty Underwriter & Business Development Manager for the Korean market and provides underwriting for CGL, Product Liability and Construction and TPL including Offshore Construction Liability.
Sang Jin has an MSc. in Insurance and Risk Management from City University in London and nearly 15 years insurance/reinsurance experience across underwriting and broking.
Dominic has over 30 years insurance experience and joined LIU in 2000 as a Senior Casualty Underwriter. During this time, he has led our Casualty Underwriting teams in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Dominic also managed the set-up of our Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide offices.
Josh underwrites a broad range of financial and professional risks within the NSW Professional & Financial Risks portfolio and specialises in Directors’ & Officers’ Liability, Professional Indemnity (PI), Investment Manager’s insurance and Financial Institutions PI.
Josh has been in the insurance industry since 2000. He joined LIU in 2010 with over 10 years of diverse experience in financial lines insurance, gained in both the Australian and UK (London) markets.
Adrian is a Risk Engineer supporting our Casualty team. He conducts site visits and desk reviews, helping our underwriters to correctly evaluate potential exposures and understand each risk. Adrian's responsibilities also include post loss evaluations which can help prevent losses reoccurring.
Adrian comes to LIU with over 10 years risk engineering experience. He started his career in 2005 working for Insight Adjusters & Surveyors before becoming manager at AJAX Adjusters & Surveyors from 2011 - 2013, Adrian started at Crawford & Company, an international claims solutions provider, before joining LIU in 2015.
Adrian holds a Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, he is an Associate of the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters and a Senior Associate of ANZIIF.
Peter managers LIU’s Commercial Property portfolio, nationally.
Peter joined LIU in 2012 to set up the Commercial Property division. He has over 14 years’ experience in the insurance industry including property underwriting roles with various multinational insurers. His experience includes SME, Commercial, Corporate as well as Asian and Global property business.
Peter is a Senior Associate of ANZIIF and a Justice of Peace.
Donna underwrites LIU Crisis Management business for Asia Pacific from her base in the LIU Melbourne office. Her emphasis is on the development of new business and the education of clients and brokers on Product Recall insurance.
Donna has more than 15 years’ experience in insurance, having held positions with both Australian and international insurers. She has extensive underwriting experience in specialist insurance areas, including Contaminated Products, Kidnap, Ransom & Extortion and Product Recall.
Donna joined LIU in 2008, bringing several years of crisis management experience to the launch of the LIU Crisis Management Solutions product suite in the Asia Pacific region.
Donna is a Senior Associate with ANZIIF.
Senior Risk Engineer, Energy Property Construction
Graeme joined LIU’s Melbourne office in November 2009, as a Senior Risk Engineer with a focus on property fire risk engineering. His role is to provide technical support to Fire Energy and Property underwriters and claims teams by carrying out site surveys and desktop reviews of existing and prospective client’s property portfolios.
Graeme commenced his career working in the field of occupational health and safety within the motor industry, banking and communications. Following this period he was employed by one of Australia’s iconic major retail conglomerates where he developed extensive experience providing risk engineering advice and input into the development and maintenance of large retail shopping centres, warehouses and other retail building projects. He has also participated in the analysis and assessment of risks associated with business critical IT data centres.
His experience includes conducting risk assessments, site surveys and management system audits at both enterprise and local levels and developing and implementing policies and procedures to manage risk. These activities have included conducting risk reviews of the design, installation and adequacy of property protection measures in premises across a broad range of industries including wholesale and retail goods distribution and storage, rail infrastructure, water storage, sewage and water treatment, desalination plants, ports, cement and building products manufacturing, metal products fabrication, fuel terminal and biofuel production, plastic moulding and wine production.
In addition to a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Graeme also has post graduate qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Fire Engineering and Risk Management.

As a Professional & Financial Risks underwriter based in the LIU Melbourne office, Mathew is responsible for underwriting financial lines products for the Victorian market. He specialises in Professional Indemnity (PI), Information Technology Liability and Construction (PI) insurance.
Mathew has more than 10 years of insurance industry experience, with an emphasis on underwriting financial lines and casualty products.
Mathew holds various insurance qualifications and is a Senior Associate member of ANZIIF.
Emily is a Casualty senior claims specialist for Victoria, and is based in LIU’s Melbourne office.
Emily began working in insurance law in 1999, first as a para-legal with a plaintiff personal injury law firm, and then, after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree, as an insurance lawyer. She practised insurance law for five years before switching to claims. After three years in claims with an international broker, she worked as a Casualty senior claims specialist for a multinational insurance organisation before joining LIU in 2016.
Her area of interest has always been the public liability/Casualty space, including personal injury, Product Recall, third party property damage and Environmental Impairment Liability.
Elisabeth underwrites Commercial Hull, Marine General Cargo, Ship Builder’s Risk and Marine and General Liability insurance for the Asia Pacific region.
Elisabeth has over five years’ experience in insurance, gained in the Australian, Singapore and London markets. She has a background in Protection and Indemnity (P&I) underwriting with an International Group Club, and has had exposure to Middle Eastern P&I and Asian marine accounts. In addition, Elisabeth has worked in consulting and in corporate and financial lines insurance broking, and has experience with risk management and project management.
Her qualifications include an MBA from ESMT Berlin, a Masters in Insurance and Risk Management, PRINCE2 qualifications and professional insurance qualifications in broking and risk management. Elisabeth is a Senior Associate (CIP) of ANZIIF.
Li Sa is based in Singapore and handles Third Party Liability claims in Asia.
With over a decade of experience in the insurance industry, Li Sa has a strong background in liability claims. Prior to joining LIU, Li Sa specialised in personal injury claims, litigation management and dispute resolution.
Li Sa holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in General Insurance.
As the National Professional & Financial Risks Portfolio Manager for our SME Business, Ashley underwrites the full suite of LIU’s Professional & Financial Risks products, with a particular emphasis on Professional Indemnity (PI), Construction PI, Financial Institutions insurance and Information Technology insurance.
Ashley joined LIU in 2011 with a decade of experience in the insurance industry, gained while working with a PI brokerage and as a financial lines underwriter for an insurance company.
Maurice manages LIU’s Financial Institution and Director’s & Officer’s insurance portfolio across North Asia.
Maurice has over 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry comprising various roles within international brokerage firms. He first started with LIU in 2011 as an Assistant Underwriter before joining another large international insurer as Senior Underwriter in 2012.
In 2014 Maurice returned to LIU where he focuses on our Financial Institution and Directors & Officers insurance portfolio.
Maurice is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Senior Claims Specialist, Crisis Management & Energy Property Construction
James manages larger Commercial and Corporate Property claims across a wide range of industries, and also claims resulting from LIU’s Product Recall and Contaminated Products Insurance Policies.
James has a claims broking and claims examining background.. He was initially a claims broker in the London insurance market, working for 2 major international broking houses, liaising with insurers in the Reinsurance, Casualty and First Party space.
He relocated to Sydney in 2001 as a Senior Reinsurance Claims Officer for a major reinsurer.
In 2008, James moved to First Party Property, examining Commercial, Strata and Householders claims with major insurers in the Australian Market, before joining LIU in 2012.
He has been engaged in managing Energy Property Construction claims for 4 years, and Crisis Management Claims for over 2 years, within LIU.
James has a Batchelor of Arts (honours) degree in Business Studies from the University of Greenwich, London, and a Master of Arts degree in International Relations, from the University of New South Wales.
Samantha assists and is responsible for portfolio management and new business development in NSW and she specialises in the analysis and pricing of risk in General Cargo and Marine & General Liability.
Samantha’s insurance career began in 2003 and she has experience in underwriting agency and broking business. She joined LIU in 2008, since then she has worked in Marine underwriting.
Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting and Finance from the University of East London (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Marine Insurance from World Maritime University (Sweden) and a Certificate in Marine Claims from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy (London).
Andy is a CPA and a Member of both CPA Australia and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Practicing Accountants. He has more than a decade’s experience in general insurance and prior to moving into insurance worked for international audit firms for five years.
Principal Risk Engineer, Professional & Financial Risks
Tim supports LIU’s underwriters, brokers and clients to understand the key technical, delivery and Professional Indemnity risks associated with engineering and construction projects.
Tim is an experienced engineer and project and design manager who has worked across a diverse array of industries, including agriculture, mining, water, oil and gas, desalination, power generation, manufacturing and construction. He has spent more than 20 years in the engineering and construction sector alone.
Tim holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical). He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia and a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).
Thuy works together with LIU underwriters and our emergency assistance and claims management service provider to facilitate the claims process for LIU’s brokers and policy holders.
Thuy has been involved in Accident & Health claims for the last 10 years, during which time she rose through the ranks of a global risk management firm from Accident & Health Claims Specialist to National Third-Party Administrator (TPA) Operations Manager. As National TPA Operations Manager, Thuy was responsible for the day-to-day operations of a diverse book of business, including Accident & Health, Sports Injury, Credit Card, Motor, Liability, Property and Cyber insurance, for a number of domestic and international insurers. She joined LIU in September 2016.

Michael joined the LIU team in 2008 and has over 15 years' experience in financial lines underwriting. His previous experience in banking, foreign exchange and Credit Union Insurance underpins his work in underwriting within the financial services sector.

Meredith has been in the insurance industry since 2002. Originally from Sydney, Meredith gained 8 years’ experience as a Financial Lines Insurance Broker for a large international brokerage. Meredith joined LIU in 2011 and is based in Melbourne.
Meredith holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology Sydney and a Diploma of Financial Services from the National Insurance Brokers Association.
Professional & Financial Risks Claims Manager - North Asia
Denise is based in Hong Kong and handles the Professional & Financial Risks Division’s professional indemnity and D&O claims in North Asia, which includes Hong Kong, China, South Korea and Japan.
Denise joined LIU in 2016 with more than 8 years of experience in the insurance and legal industry in both Hong Kong and London. Denise was employed as a solicitor in leading law firms specialising in financial lines insurance claims, advising insurers on coverage and managing large scale claims. Denise was also involved in defending claims against professionals such as solicitors, architects, surveyors as well as defending claims brought against directors of multinational companies and litigating shareholder disputes. In addition, Denise was seconded to the claims department of a Lloyd’s insurer in London.
Denise holds a degree in Bachelor of Laws and is a qualified Hong Kong solicitor.

Vanessa manages the Claims and Technology Divisions for the Asia Pacific Region
Vanessa has been handling claims since 1995 and has managed a range of claims including Professional Indemnity, Directors’ & Officers’ Liability, Bankers’ Blanket Bond, Compulsory Third Party, Public and Products Liability, Property, Marine, Engineering and Crisis Management claims.
She joined LIU in 2001 and since that time has held a number of positions within LIU, including Vice President Claims and Legal Counsel for LIU’s Asia Pacific operations. Since joining LIU she has also participated in policy wording development on a cross lines basis.
In 2012 Vanessa was appointed Senior Vice President Claims and Technology for the Asia Pacific Region.
Prior to joining LIU Vanessa worked at a number of Australian insurers. This gave Vanessa exposure to a wide range of products, wordings and claims sizes. Vanessa has handled claims in jurisdictions throughout Australia and Asia.
Christian is responsible for managing LIU’s Professional & Financial Risks portfolio in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. He specialises in underwriting LIU’s Financial Lines products, including Professional Indemnity (PI), Construction Project PI, Annual Construction PI, Financial Institutions, Umbrella Liability, Information Technology Liability, Cyber Liability and Directors’ & Officers’ Liability.
Christian has over 20 years underwriting experience, with 17 of those years focused on Financial Lines.
Panayiota is a Casualty claims specialist based in the LIU Melbourne office.
Panayiota joined LIU in 2017 with 12 years’ experience as a liability claims consultant. She has a thorough understanding of public and products liability claims and has worked in all facets of casualty claims management.
Panayiota manages her own portfolio of casualty claims and assists the LIU Casualty Claims team to deliver a superior claims service.
Panayiota holds a Bachelor of Arts (Legal Studies) from La Trobe University in Melbourne.
Natalie underwrites facility business for the LIU Brisbane office, and programme business for LIU Australia.
Natalie joined LIU Brisbane in 2007 as a member of the administrative staff, soon transferring to the LIU Casualty team as an underwriting assistant. Since then she has worked her way up to an underwriting position, gaining experience in underwriting and portfolio management of both facility and programme business.
Prior to joining LIU, Natalie spent 6 years in retail customer service. She holds a Bachelor of Business with a major in Human Resources and is a member of ANZIIF.
Paul is the head of the Australian Marine Division as well as a senior member of the LIU Global Marine Team.
Paul started with LIU in 2003 and has over 30 years of experience in Marine insurance, having held Marine Management roles with leading multinational insurance companies in Australia and the US.
His experience also includes involvement in Asian and Latin American markets.
Paul has developed LIU’s business appetite in our chosen Marine Segments of General Cargo, Project Cargo [Profits Insurance], Primary & Excess Marine Liabilities, Construction of Vessels and Commercial Hull insurance.

Mike has been integral to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s plan to grow the global Surety footprint. Based in Sydney, Mike’s focus is to underwrite mid-market Surety business for the Asia Pacific region. He works closely with clients and provides financial analysis and a solid understanding of the character and capabilities of each individual business.
Mike joined the LIU Asia Pacific Surety team in November 2014 with seven years’ experience gained in the US-based Liberty Mutual Surety team, first in Kansas - where he specialised in Contract and Commercial Surety - and then in Colorado, where for four years he led the SuretyFirst mid-market construction line across three States.
Mike holds a BSc (Finance & Banking and Economics) from the University of Missouri, and is an Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding. Mike is a member of the Australian Surety Association.
Responsible for Portfolio Management and New Business Development (Asia Pacific) and for the analysis and pricing of risk in General Cargo, Project Cargo, Marine and General Liability and Hull (Ship Builders Risks) sectors.
Robert began his career in the marine insurance industry in 1997. Since then, he has gained experience across both claims and underwriting. His experience extends to numerous types of infrastructure projects requiring marine cargo and DSU coverage.

Mark manages a variety of Casualty claims emanating from the Brisbane office with particular emphasis on Construction.
Mark has 25 years claims handling experience working with several major insurance companies. Mark joined LIU London in 2003, transferring to the Australian operation in 2012.
Mark has extensive experience in handling a wide variety of Casualty claims including complex Personal Injury and Product Liability claims. Mark also has claims management experience of third party service providers.
Mark is a Senior Associate of ANZIIF and a member of the Institute of Legal Executives and has a Diploma in Insurance (UK).
As Branch Manager for LIU Hong Kong, Eddie provides leadership to the team and supports them to build and manage relationships in the market.
Eddie has more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Before joining LIU in 2006, he held management roles and regional underwriting roles with insurers and brokers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing.

Joyce is responsible for growing the LIU Crisis Management portfolio in Asia. Her areas of focus include Product Recall, Product Contamination and Kidnap and Ransom insurance.

Claudia joined LIU in 2017 with experience in legal practice and insurance claims management in Australia. Prior to joining LIU, Claudia worked as a Senior Claims Consultant, managing liability and professional indemnity matters.
Claudia holds a Bachelor of Arts/Laws (Honours) degree and a Masters of Business (Human Resources). She is an admitted solicitor in NSW and holds a current practising certificate.
As Head of Property for LIU Asia Pacific, David manages the underwriting and marketing of LIU’s corporate and commercial Property portfolios. David is based in Melbourne, Australia.
David has more than 38 years of experience in Property underwriting. Before joining LIU in early 2004, he spent more than 13 years as Facultative Property Manager/Programmes Manager (Asia Pacific) for a global Property/Casualty reinsurance company.
As a senior Casualty underwriter, Richard’s main focus is on expanding the corporate, commercial and Construction (liability) business written out of the Brisbane office.
Richard began his insurance career in New Zealand 30 years ago. When he joined LIU in July 2013, he had spent the previous decade as the Queensland liability manager and liability product specialist (Casualty) for a large Australian insurer. Before that, he held various senior underwriting roles — with an emphasis on corporate Property and Construction insurance — for a major international insurer.

As a senior Professional & Financial Risks underwriter based in the LIU Perth office, Jack is responsible for underwriting financial lines products for the Western Australian market. He specialises in Directors' and Officers' Liability insurance and Professional Indemnity insurance, and has valuable experience in mining sector insurance.
Jack has been a financial lines underwriter in Western Australia since 2007, having previously worked in the banking industry. He joined LIU in September 2017.
Jack holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Information Systems.
Lauren manages the LIU Australian Workers Compensation claims portfolio which comprises excess of loss and seafarers claims. She engages directly with clients, brokers, specialists and other stakeholders ensuring optimum claims outcomes are achieved.
Lauren joined LIU in January 2017 with more than 12 years’ experience in the workers compensation market. Prior to LIU, Lauren was the Senior Advisor, Workers Compensation, News Corp. and held various senior workers compensation claims and risk management roles at Allianz Australia covering all Australian jurisdictions and gaining significant experience in catastrophic claims. She is passionate about workers compensation and the ability to influence positive outcomes from often difficult situations.
Lauren has tertiary qualifications in health & rehabilitation and a masters of management.
As manager of the NSW branch - LIU Australia’s largest branch - Paul oversees operations, staff management, market effectiveness and overall coordination from the Sydney flagship office.
Paul has more than 25 years’ experience in both claims and underwriting, during which time he has dealt with both international and domestic brokers. Although his focus has been mainly the General Liability product lines, Paul also has experience in construction, manufacturing and Sports Liability insurance. Paul joined LIU in 2001 and spent the first 10 years in the Sydney office before moving to Melbourne in 2010. He relocated to Sydney in 2017.

Noel manages the LIU Casualty Division in the Asia Pacific, and has global product oversight of Casualty.
Noel has over 35 years of Casualty insurance experience, is a member of LIU’s regional executive management team, and is Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Casualty.
Noel has helped position LIU as a leading market in the Asia Pacific region, working with international and regional brokers to deliver solutions for a wide range of diverse clients.
Noel is a sought after industry commentator, regularly speaking on Casualty and other insurance issues to industry bodies and professional associations.
As a Professional & Financial Risks underwriter based in the LIU Perth office, Sarah is responsible for underwriting financial lines business for Western Australia. Her focus in on Professional Indemnity insurance, Investment Manager's insurance, Financial Institutions insurance, and IT and Cyber Liability insurance.
Sarah joined LIU in 2017 with over 10 years' experience as a broker specialising in financial lines, and five years' experience as a financial lines underwriter.

Chris has been with LIU since 2000 and has been underwriting Financial Lines business across Asia Pacific since 1993. Originally based in Sydney, Chris transferred to LIU's Brisbane office in 2008 to establish and lead the QLD Financial Lines portfolio. He returned to Sydney in 2014 to manage LIU's Project PI portfolio.

Jonathan manages a wide range of Professional Indemnity (PI) and Financial Lines claims across a variety of professions and industries.
Jonathan has been working in the insurance industry and related fields for more than 20 years. In that time he has gained experience across the spectrum of liability claims with particular emphasis on financial lines claims including PI and Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O) claims.
Prior to joining LIU, Jonathan was employed as a solicitor in the insurance practice of a national Australian firm. He has also worked as a claims manager for a major general insurer and an independent claims manager.
Jonathan holds degrees of Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws and has been admitted to practice as a solicitor in Queensland. He is based in Brisbane.

Wilson is based in Sydney and is responsible for LIU Marine claims throughout Australia & New Zealand. Wilson is a pivotal member of the Australian Marine business unit and works closely with underwriters and risk engineers to obtain the best business solutions and outcomes for clients.
Wilson has over 22 years of insurance experience including over 15 years of marine portfolio management with various global marine insurers. Wilson was responsible for the design and implementation of various risk management programs and loss mitigation processes for a number of multinational manufacturers and energy/power projects in Australia. As a qualified Marine Surveyor, Wilson brings a fundamental practical understanding and technical claims experience to the claims team.
Wilson has extensive experience in Cargo, Project Cargo, Carrier’s Cargo Liability and General Average claims and has handled a number of high profile claims within Australasia. Wilson is recognised as a leading Project Cargo claims handler in the Australian & New Zealand insurance market.
Wilson has been with LIU since June 2005.
Claims Manager, Workers' Compensation and Third Party
Manages the Environmental Impairment Liability portfolio across the Asia Pacific Region.
Alan's insurance career began in 2004 in his hometown of Wellington, New Zealand. Alan started with LIU Brisbane in 2006 focusing on programmes and open market business. From there, Alan affirmed his underwriting prowess in the Corporate Division of LIU's Toronto, Canada office. Alan now resides in Brisbane managing the Environmental Impairment Liability portfolio. Alan holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
David joined Liberty in 2009 and works with Liberty staff in Australia and Asia, providing technical support to Casualty underwriters and claims staff.
David’s main focus is on General and Products Liability. He conducts site visits and desk reviews for clients across a range of industries including construction, manufacturing, retail, chemical, transport and infrastructure.
David has experience in both First Party and Casualty Loss Control. Before joining Liberty he worked in the Construction Materials Industry and ran his own risk management consulting firm. David has Civil Engineering Qualifications and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Senior Risk Engineer, Energy Property Construction
Imelda is a Risk Engineer supporting Singapore's Energy Property Construction Division.
Before joining LIU, Imelda worked for FM Global in Malaysia and Singapore providing risk engineering/loss prevention consultancy services for Asian clients across industries including pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, chemicals, electronics and mechanical equipment manufacturing.
Marcus underwrites LIU Accident & Health business in Queensland and the Northern Territory from his base in the Brisbane office.
Marcus joined LIU in 2017 bringing two decades of insurance underwriting experience across both corporate and consumer products. In his previous role, he managed a casualty portfolio for a large international insurer in Brisbane.

Richard coordinates and manages the LIU Accident & Health offering from his base in Sydney.
Richard joined LIU in 2016 with a wealth of experience in Accident & Health insurance gained over 18 years with domestic and international insurers servicing the Australian and New Zealand markets. He has held various executive roles, among them Head of Consumer Lines Australia for a large international insurance organisation.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts from Otago University in New Zealand.
Assistant Vice President, Casualty and QLD Branch Manager
As the Queensland Branch Manager, Mark is responsible for the operations, staff management, market responsiveness and vision of the branch. As Casualty Manager (Queensland), Mark oversees all Casualty business being written from the LIU Brisbane office.
Mark has over 30 years of general insurance experience. Before joining LIU in 2003, he was a commercial development manager for a major international insurer, and had underwriting responsibility for property, liability and commercial motor products generated through middle market intermediaries.
For a few years after joining LIU, Mark managed the developing portfolio of affinity business being written from the Brisbane office; more recently, his focus has been on open-market Casualty accounts, including construction.
Mark was appointed Queensland Branch Manager in November 2017.
Natasha underwrites the entire suite of products for the LIU Accident & Health line of business.
Natasha has more than 6 years’ experience in Accident & Health insurance, gained through broking and underwriting across New South Wales and Victoria. She joined LIU in January 2017 and is based in LIU’s Sydney office.
Natasha holds Tier 1 (General Insurance Compliance Personal Accident and Sickness) qualifications with ANZIIF.
Senior Risk Engineer, Energy Property Construction
As Risk Engineer within LIU’s Energy and Construction Division, Imran works with LIU staff in Singapore, providing technical support for underwriting and claims for first party lines of businesses across Asia.
Part of this involves site surveys of commercial and industrial properties, as well as construction projects. The properties or projects can involve office buildings, hotels, as well as various kinds of manufacturing facilities within Asia.
Prior to joining LIU, Imran spent 10 years as a risk engineer in FM Global, and 5 years in the construction industry in Singapore.
Senior Underwriter, Professional & Financial Risks
Rian is based in the LIU Sydney office and underwrites Professional Indemnity, Information Technology Liability, Directors’ & Officers’ Liability and Cyber insurance.
Rian joined LIU in 2015 with 7 years’ experience in insurance, gained in the Sydney and Melbourne offices of a global insurer.
Rian holds a Diploma of Financial Services - General Insurance and Diploma of Financial Planning, both through ANZIIF, and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Business (Insurance and Finance) through Charles Sturt University.
Senior Underwriter focusing on non-international brokers. John also manages our facility portfolios including, Ensurance Construction, Demolition & Asbestos, Heritage Rail and Fireworks.
John began his insurance career in 1997 as a broker with a local brokerage in Armidale, Northern NSW. Nine years later, John transitioned into underwriting when he moved to Sydney and began writing Crisis Management policies for a large international insurer. In July 2008, John joined the LIU Casualty team.
John holds a Diploma of Financial Services and is a Senior Associate of ANZIIF.
Vice President, Professional & Financial Risks - Asia
Ann is the Asia head for all products within the Professional & Financial Risks portfolio, including — but not limited to — Professional Indemnity (PI) (such as Commercial, Construction, Construction Project and Financial Institutions PI), Investment Manager’s insurance, Umbrella Defence Costs, Information Technology Liability, Cyber, Directors' & Officers' Liability and Side A insurance.
Ann has worked in the Professional & Financial Risks sector since 2001 and has been with LIU since 2005. She has predominantly worked in the Australian region with some exposure to the Asian regions. In addition to her focus on underwriting, prior to her appointment to the current role, she managed one of the largest Professional & Financial Risks portfolios and underwriting teams in Australia.
Ann has a Bachelor of Commerce in finance, risk and insurance and she maintains a long-standing interest in workplace mentoring and training.
As a member of the LIU Marine risk engineering team, Hanghei is involved in risk assessment of the full suite of our marine risks, including Commercial Hull, Ship Builder’s, Marine Liabilities and Exploration & Production, with a special emphasis on Project Cargo risks, across Asia Pacific and Europe.
Hanghei joined LIU Singapore at the beginning of 2015 with more than a decade of experience working as a Heavy Lift and Transport engineer in the UK and Asia. His experience includes the conceptual planning and implementation of transport and heavy crane lifts for major projects globally, HAZCON risk assessment studies, method statements, detailed lifting and transport studies, heavy rigging equipment inspections and the technical review of subcontract tenders, as well as practical, on-site experience.
Hanghei holds a HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
As a senior underwriter and LIU Professional & Financial Risks Manager for Western Australia, Jerome is responsible for coordinating and managing the Professional & Financial Risks business from the Perth office. He specialises in Professional Indemnity (PI), Construction PI, Financial Institutions PI, Investment Manager’s insurance, Information Technology Liability, Cyber insurance and Directors’ and Officers’ Liability insurance.
Jerome has 10 years of underwriting experience, and also has a background in finance and risk consulting. He joined LIU in 2015.
Jack underwrites Casualty risks for the LIU Sydney office .
Jack joined LIU in 2013 with a background in project management in the commercial construction industry. In his first role with LIU, as assistant underwriter, he focused on the demolition and asbestos facility, but since becoming an underwriter in 2016, he has dealt with an open market book of Casualty business.
Jack holds a Bachelor of Construction Management from the University of Newcastle.
Assistant Vice President, Energy Property Construction
Manages LIU's Workers Compensation portfolio in Asia.
Tom has over 14 years in the insurance industry. He started his career as a broker for a large international brokerage in Sydney, Australia.
In 2003 he joined LIU where Tom was a General & Products Liability underwriter in our Sydney branch until he transferred to our Kuala Lumpur office where he was responsible for our Malaysian Casualty portfolio. In 2015, Tom was promoted to Workers Compensation Manager where he currently works in our Singapore office.
Tom holds a Master of Business in Financial Services from University of Technology and is an ANZIIF Fellow.
Working with a geographically dispersed team, Steve is responsible for the management of the Civil Construction product line globally.
Steve joined LIU in July 2008 with a mandate to formulate and execute a strategy for the global roll-out of Civil Construction as a new product line within LIU. Prior to joining LIU, Steve spent just under 20 years at Swiss Reinsurance, finishing there as Head of Engineering, Asia. During his time at Swiss Re, he was primarily involved in the insurance of major construction projects worldwide working in South African, London, Zurich and Australian markets. Before his time in reinsurance, Steve spent 10 years in a variety of site-related construction activities including bridge, mining and structural erection projects.
Steve comes from a Civil Engineering background, has a Bachelor of Commerce and is an Associate of the Insurance Institute and a Fellow of the Risk Management Institute of South Africa.
Kristy manages a wide range of Professional & Financial Risks claims, including professional indemnity, financial lines and construction claims across a number of professions.
Kristy has over 10 years’ experience as a lawyer practising in dispute resolution and litigation, predominantly in the areas of insurance and construction.
Kristy’s background involved acting for insurers and advising in relation to professional negligence claims against building and construction professionals, property industry professionals, local councils and allied health professionals.
As the head of Casualty for Victoria, Daniel manages all the Casualty business for Victoria and Tasmania being written out of the Melbourne office.
Daniel has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry including corporate broking, placement and underwriting roles.
Daniel joined LIU in 2011 and is based in Melbourne. He is a Senior Associate of ANZIIF.
Benny manages the LIU Hong Kong Casualty team and is responsible for growing the Casualty portfolio in Hong Kong.
Benny began his insurance career in 2003 in Canada, where he worked for an underwriting agency. In 2006 he moved to Hong Kong, where he gained two years' local experience working for a large international insurer before joining LIU in 2008.
Benny holds a Master of Insurance and Risk Management from Deakin University.
Vice President Australia, Professional & Financial Risks
Manages LIU’s Professional & Financial Risks NSW portfolio.
Jason has over 26 years’ experience in the insurance industry having held various underwriting and claims positions with multi-national insurers. His experience extends across automotive and personal lines insurance through to property and liability insurance. Jason has been with LIU since 2000 and has lived and worked in Sydney, Toronto, Hong Kong and now Singapore.
Jason is a Senior Associate of The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance (ANZIIF).
Chow joined LIU in 2003 and heads up the Risk Engineering Division responsible for all risk management activities in Asia, supporting underwriting and claims as part of the Energy, Property & Construction Division.
Chow has done extensive risk management work in Asia, including site surveys, in-house risk assessment and risk engineering/loss prevention consultancy, across industries ranging from oil, gas and petrochemicals to manufacturing, logistics, and IT.
A graduate chemical engineer, Chow has 10 years experience in risk engineering for the insurance industry.
Chow’s non-insurance experience includes 7 years in the petrochemical industry in Singapore working on process engineering, operations, Greenfield project turnover and start-up.
